The Dealmaker's Ten Commandments provides a practical, no-nonsense
Snowpiercer is finally ready to return with a new season on TNT. After two seasons of intense action, the post-apocalyptic sci-fi series based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige is set to release with its highly-anticipated third season. The original graphic novel by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette, was also adapted into a film in 2013, which starred Chris Evans. It was directed by Parasite director Bong Joon-ho. The TNT series gives us a more expansive version of its story, and it will be continued in Season 3.
Last May, Snowpiercer debuted as the #1 new cable entertainment program with 3.3 million viewers across both TBS and TNT, making it the top new cable TV show in 2020. Now, fans are excited to find out when the next season will premiere.
Here's everything you need to know about Snowpiercer Season 3.
Snowpiercer Season 3 Renewal Status – Will there also be a fourth season?
Due to popular demand, TNT renewed Snowpiercer for Season 3 and Season 4. The fourth season was confirmed ahead of Season 3 release, following the end of Season 3's production, so expect the post-apocalyptic series to continue for the next year or two.
TNT hasn't revealed the official episode count for Snowpiercer Season 3, but as both Seasons 1 and 2 featured 10 episodes each, fans can expect that Season 3 will have ten episodes or more.
Snowpiercer Season 3 Release Date – When will it premiere in the U.S.?
In early November 2021, TNT has announced that Snowpiercer Season 3 is set to premiere on Monday, January 24, 2022. Update: The premiere of the third season was released just a year after the second season, picking up right where it left off. TNT confirmed the release date through a post on its official Twitter account.
Just like the two previous seasons, all the Season 3 episodes won't be released at once. In the USA, it will be released on TNT weekly, while Netflix will be streaming the series for the rest of the world.
The preliminary release schedule has the first episode of Snowpiercer Season 3 coming out on TNT on Jan. 24, and Netflix will release it internationally on Jan. 25.
New episodes will then be released weekly at the same time, up until March 28, 2022, for TNT, and March 29, 2022 for Netflix.
The show will be available to stream on Netflix outside of the U.S. only, starting on Jan. 25.
Snowpiecer Season 3 Plot – What can we expect to happen in the third season?
Snowpiercer Season 2 climaxes into a thrilling cliffhanger. Season 2 follows Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) leading a group of rebels to take over the control of the first 10 cars of the perpetually-moving Snowpiercer, with a mission to turn it into a pirate train. They are preparing to rescue Melanie (Jennifer Connelly), only to discover that she has abandoned the refuge of the research center and went to the frozen wilderness to the last breath. However, Melanie discovers the data left by Cavill, which revealed that there are potential regions of Earth where people can restart civilization.
The second season of Snowpiercer builds up the tension between Layton's group of rebels and Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean), so expect Season 3 to take this conflict to the next level as the rebels try to take over Snowpiercer, but the consequences will likely affect the future of the human race. Season 3 will likely reveal dark secrets, but don't expect it to conclude the entire story.
The third season of Snowpiercer is expected to begin with Layton commanding a "pirate train" in a mission to find Melanie and a potential new place where the survivors could live safely.
The titles of the first two episodes have been revealed. The first episode of Season 3 is titled The Last to Go, and here's the description of the episode: "Layton goes on the hunt, as Wilford works to boost morale; the resistance discovers a threat that could undermine everything they've worked for."
The second episode is titled The Tortoise and the Hare, and its description reads: "While Wilford emphasizes his rule aboard his icy train, Layton's pirate train continues its dangerous quest for warm spots, and comes across something entirely unexpected."
Speaking to EW, star Daveed Diggs teased the "badass" Season 3, sharing what to expect from this year's new episodes:
"So many things happen. There's a ton of action, but what I liked about shooting this season was that there are a lot of big, emotional, character-driven revelations that happen in some of the most action-packed moments. There's a great storyline between Layton and Josie (Katie McGuinness), and how their relationship is shifting or adapting, based on Layton maybe having a child and how that's going to work out. A lot of the moments that they have to talk about that are while they're doing some completely extreme thing, on some crazy mission. I like that about this season, that there's an effort to keep the emotional journeys alive even in the action-y moments. There's some new sets that are pretty cool, there's some new characters introduced that I can't talk about, but there's a lot of fun discoveries this season. There's a lot of new stuff. For people who have been watching the show, you haven't seen it all."
Snowpiercer Season 3 Cast – Who's expected to return and who are the newcomers?
Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, and Sean Bean will surely return as Andre Layton, Melanie, and Mr. Wilford, but other cast members have already been confirmed for Season 3, including Chelsea Harris, Archie Panjabi, Rowan Blanchard, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Katie McGuiness, Iddo Goldberg, Lena Hall, Sam Otto, Annalise Basso, Roberto Urbina, Steven Ogg, and Sheila Vand.
