Jonathan Gardner, Esq. graduated from Bowdoin College and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1996. After law school, Gardner served as a business affairs executive at Universal and Fox before co-founding Cohen Gardner LLP in 2002. His practice focuses on writers, directors, actors and producers, in addition to independent financiers, packagers and sales companies. Gardner has established himself as one of the premier dealmakers in the motion picture business, frequently representing high-profile talent or producers involved in major festival bidding wars, headline negotiations with studios and the filmmakers behind award season contenders. More recently, he has been at the forefront of structuring high-budget projects financed by new media distributors such as Amazon and Netflix. In addition to providing legal representation to clients, Gardner has executive produced multiple feature films and short films, including three projects in 2015 alone. Gardner spends his off time with his family, and enjoys tennis and chess as hobbies. He is a supporter of various non-profit organizations, focusing on support for cancer-stricken families, military veterans issues, and September 11th survivors.
