BARBI APPELQUIST, ESQ.

Barbi Appelquist, Esq., M.P.P. attended Barnard College, received her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2004 and her Masters in Public Policy from Pepperdine University in 2014. After law school, Ms. Appelquist joined the transactional department at Glaser Weil Fink Howard Avchen & Shapiro LLP and, in 2007 joined Public Counsel’s Community Development Project where she provided general corporate advice to microbusinesses and nonprofits.  Ms. Appelquist’s Of Counsel practice at Cohen Gardner LLP focuses on nonprofits and social impact film projects.  In 2014, Ms. Appelquist ran for California State Senate District 26 and currently serves as Chair of the Advisory Board for the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media as well as a board member for the National Women’s Political Caucus and on the Santa Monica Early Childhood Education Task Force.  Ms. Appelquist is a former Management Consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, a former Contracts Law professor with the California School of Law, and contributes regularly to the Huffington Post.
